PASSedit: The GTech PASS file editor

Version History

NOTE: GTech, PASS, and associated images are Copyright (C) by Tesla Electronics, Inc.

PASSedit will allow you to change the data stored in GTP and GTS files for the fields noted below. It will NOT allow you to modify the run data itself.

Supported formats and notes:

Product Filetype Fields Supported Notes
GTech Pro/SS/RR .GTP Run name, vehicle name, vehicle weight, redline, shift point, rollout length, notes, pitch factor (2.0 RR only).
  • PASS rounds the value in the rollout length field when adding race data to the notes. PASSedit will always display the exact value stored in the file.
  • Rollout time is not supported. It appears to be calculated, not stored.
  • Some fields are stored for reference only. For example, only the vehicle weight will affect the run results (by altering the calculated power.)
GTech Fanatic SS/RR .GTS Run date, vehicle weight, frontal area, coefficient of drag, driveline loss.
  • The Fanatic series supports metric and imperial units, but stores in metric. This means imperial units are usually not stored as even integers. PASSedit will display and store them exactly as PASS does.
  • An undocumented field I'm calling "vehicle notes" is also displayed. I have no idea where it's populated from.

NOTE: PASSedit will allow you to open files based on their registration in Windows. Make sure the GTP, GTS, and other filetypes are associated properly.

PASSedit v3.00 build 1 (07/18/2011): PASSedit is back... again! Major enhancement version.

Features added:

  • Rewrote PASSedit to add support for the new GTech Fanatic series SS/RR in addition to the previous GTech Pro/SS/RR.
  • Updated the installer to include all dependencies for the new OSes that don't have the VB runtime.

Bugs fixed:

  • None!

PASSedit v2.00 build 2 (05/29/2009): Minor enhancement version.

Features added:

  • Additional detail in error message displayed when a file cannot be locked for changes.

Bugs fixed:

  • None!

PASSedit v2.00 build 1 (05/03/2009): Minor bugfix version.

Features added:

  • None!

Bugs fixed:

  • Fixed a bug where using hotkeys while editing a field did not update that field in the GTP file.
  • Removed an unnecessary warning about notes.

PASSedit v2.00 build 0 (05/05/2008): PASSedit is back! Major enhancement version.

Features added:

  • Significant GUI improvements to make PASSedit look prettier, work better, and reflect the current GTech product look.
  • Added the ability to display and edit the notes field.
  • Added a real application installer instead of just a ZIP file.

Bugs fixed:

  • Fixed a minor bug where PASSedit would round the rollout value. It had to do with how PASS stores and displays the rollout differently. For example, a 12" roll-out is actually stored as 12.1", but displayed as 12".
  • Fixed bugs with shelling out for PASS and browser sessions.

PASSedit v1.30 build 0 (09/16/2004): Minor enhancement version.

Features added:

  • Added support for PASS version 2.0 RR. This includes handling of the new pitch factor field. However, it is a cosmetic change at least for right now (see above note re: rollout, pitch factor.)
  • Added the ability to refresh the directory structure and file list.
  • Added some hotkey support (F5 = refresh, F2 = rename, etc.)
  • Changed the interface so a single-click displays the GTP file data, and a double-click edits it.

Bugs fixed:

  • Detects to see if the filelist changed before trying to edit/view a file. Previously it would create a 0-byte file if a file was deleted and the file list was not updated.

PASSedit v1.10 build 0 (04/05/2004): Minor enhancement version.

Features added:

  • Added a context menu for renaming/deleting/editing/opening the GTP file.
  • Expanded the app size to allow for full filename display.
  • Changed the interface so a single-click displays the GTP file data, and a double-click edits it.

Bugs fixed:

  • Allows a zero roll-out length to be entered.

PASSedit v1.00 build 0 (04/05/2004): Initial release version.

Features added:

  • Views and edits run name, vehicle name, vehicle weight, redline, shift point, and rollout length.
